The Number 1 Reason People Fail in Network Marketing…and How to Avoid It.

Have you ever given someone your ‘pitch’ only to have them respond with, “oh I had a friend who used to do that!” Or have you bumped into someone you prospected a few months down the road and they ask you “hey are you still doing that cute little side business?” Ha ha there is nothing worse!!

This is the number 1 reason I use Personal Branding to grow my business, and why I never pitch myself to anyone I meet. I am simply curious, friendly, interested in others, authentic and I build relationships with the people I meet, and when I see a need or a talent, I simply invite them to sit down and take a closer look at what I do. And do you know why they usually say yes? Because they have no idea what I do! They simply know that I have an amazing lifestyle, they trust me, and they know I have their best interest at heart. This is what authentic business building is all about. Building a massive business and loyal following does not happen overnight, it happens over trust, connection, and friendship.

The number 1 reason most people fail in network marketing is because they quit before payday. They don’t take it seriously, or treat it like a real business. A real business cannot be built just on the backs of the people who are in your personal network. Yes your trusted network can help you meet new people, but don’t expect them to be responsible for your success or to be the ones who jump into your business. If you are relying on your friends and family to be your customers, and you are not out meeting new people for your business on a daily basis, you are relying on something outside of your own responsibility to take action.

Opportunities do not appear out of nowhere just because you’re a good person. You do not buy a business that pays you, you have to build a business, and that takes months even years of consistent effort and success building habits...but it will pay you for a lifetime!! There are going to be ups and downs, and that is to be expected, but cannot be taken personally. Accept that nos, people quitting, people cancelling appointments, is just part of the process, and that it will help you build a stronger business by learning how to overcome those challenges. So if you’re not where you want to be in your business, but you haven’t quit, then you are on track to finding success.

Whether you are new to your business or have been in it for a few years, but are not seeing growth, know that there is nothing in your business activity cannot fix. Chances are you are not meeting enough people or getting enough eyes on your product or opportunity. And if this is the case, there are a couple reasons why…

  1. 1. You have a hole in your bucket. No really, we all do, and what that means is you need to constantly be filling that bucket with new leads. You are simply not meeting enough people. You need to consistently be filling your leaky bucket, and you need to have a consistent presence on social media where your are consistently offering value. Start thinking of your business like a work out regime. Will you get a beach body by working out every once in a while? Well you certainly cannot build a 6 figure income working whenever you feel like it. I recommend reading books on habit stacking, and a book that really helped me recognize the importance of consistency is The Compound Affect by Darren Hardy.
