What You Need to Know Right Now to Grow your Business using Facebook.

This topic comes up almost daily with home business owners and network marketers who are trying to build their business and brand online….Which feature should I use on Facebook to build my business? My personal profile, a fan page, or a facebook group? Here’s my short answer...they are all effective to a different degree, so I use them all. In today’s article I’m sharing with you the perks of using each feature for your business, and how to maximize your efforts by utilizing all of them.

Let’s start with your personal timeline, because I notice that most home business owners who are getting started use this space the most...and unfortunately not to their benefit. Your timeline is a great place to start building awareness and curiosity that you’re in business. It's a great place to gain exposure as a go to person on the topic of your business. It;s a place where you can get your warm market to raise their hand, inspire them with your posts, personally connect, and build a lifestyle brand around what you do.


The downside to this strategy is that there is no way to scale your business. It's limited in reaching a new market of prospects,  and you have to do all of your marketing manually, leaving little automation or time leverage. Lastly, it’s not actually meant for business, so you could be turning people off if you're filling your timeline with product promotions and sales posts.  Despite pissing off your warm market, you risk having your timeline shut down. Facebook doesn’t want you building a business on a personal page, hence why it’s called a personal page.


Attracting new clients with Your Facebook Fan page

Now let’s talk about Fan Pages. When I started my business back in 2012, the first thing I did was create a fan page...mind you, back then I was doing all sorts of things the wrong way and was not getting any business through my efforts. But regardless of how good you are at it, the fact that you’re making the effort to have a fan page shows you’re serious about your business and positions you as a pro.

Having a fan page allows you to create automation in your business, get leads on autopilot, and have an unlimited amount of followers...with your personal profile you are capped at 5,000. Keep in mind, this strategy is a long term approach to your business, so you need to have a long term vision and mindset. If you’re one of those people who says “well I’m going to just try it out and see how it goes” then I’d recommend doing some work on your business mindset before using this strategy.

Now you do need to pay to play when it comes to Facebook pages, but like any business, it’s important to invest in the things that are going to give you a return. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to brand my business and start running ads through Facebook. My gut told me this was the way to go, but I was scared of what others might think, so I played it small for way too long.

Finally I got tired of the hamster wheel that my business was becoming, and I was feeling like maybe I didn’t really have the time freedom I was looking for. I was afraid if I took my foot off the pedal for a minute, my entire business would come crashing down on me. Building community with facebook groups

Ok, and last, but certainly not least, Facebook Groups. Now, facebook groups is a little bit like list building without having to learn the ins and outs of building a landing page, a funnel and maintaining an email list...although I still highly recommend learning these skills when the time comes in your business. The beauty of Facebook groups is that it’s a place where you can give free value and information, interact and connect with your audience, and create a community around your brand.

Another reason why I love Facebook Groups is the ability for your entire team to time leverage in your organization. It creates social proof around your products and opportunity, and eliminates the need for extensive training when a new team member is getting started. It’s a very simple way to duplicate in your business, however, you need to be active in the group consistently. It's all about giving value, and it works best when everyone in the community gets engaged...especially your team.


So, let’s wrap this up. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with getting started, here is my recommendation:

While you’re learning about ads and building your fan page, start building a consistent presence on your timeline where you share your lifestyle and create curiosity around what you’re doing. Let people know you’re offering a free group where you are expanding on the knowledge you've received, and invite them to join your community!
